About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Outreach Counsellor to provide intensive counselling and mentoring support to at-risk young people (aged 12–18, with a focus on 12–15 years) and their families. This position involves delivering trauma-informed therapeutic services in homes, community settings, and office-based environments.
The Rising Strong Program, delivered in partnership with Communicare, focuses on supporting young men and adolescent boys who are using or at risk of using violence. As part of this program, you’ll work within Centrecare’s Therapeutic Framework to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery and measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, intensive counselling to young people and families, focusing on trauma and healing-informed practices.
- Deliver support primarily through outreach, including home visits, with some office-based and community-based services.
- Develop and implement educational and developmental programs tailored to individual needs.
- Support young people exposed to or at risk of family and domestic violence.
- Work collaboratively with program partners to achieve positive outcomes for clients.
- Contribute to program development, service delivery improvements, and outcome measurements.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or other related disciplines.
- Working with Children Check
- National Police Clearance
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in counselling, case management and assessment to clients.
- Extensive understanding in the area of family and domestic violence in relation to young people, trauma informed practice and an understanding of child development.
- Possession of a current Class ‘C’ drivers license and own vehicle.
