The Role
We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Counsellor to join our Family & Relationship Services program located at our Esperance branch. In this role, you will provide high‑quality, client‑centred counselling services to individuals and families, helping clients explore personal concerns, develop coping strategies and work toward positive wellbeing outcomes. You will build strong therapeutic relationships, apply evidence‑informed approaches and deliver tailored support that meets the diverse needs of those you work with, contributing to improved emotional health and resilience.
- Screening, assessments and support planning.
- Selecting and providing appropriate brief intervention supports for clients whether they be clients or carers.
- Assessing supports and ensuring that they are appropriate to meeting client's needs.
- Deliver evidence-based counselling and group interventions.
- Referring and assisting clients to access appropriate mainstream specialist services and support groups; and
- Providing information and education to clients, carers, families and other service providers; and providing and/or arranging support for carers and families.
Selection Criteria
- Bachelor in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Childhood Development and/or Family studies and related disciplines or equivalent.
- Relevant experience in working with children and families with complex needs e.g. domestic violence, homelessness, abuse, schooling issues. Whereby service design was inclusive of social, emotional, mental, and physical needs.
- Experience in case management and coordination of client services.
- Demonstrated experience in intake, assessment and case management.
- Knowledge and experience in early intervention and prevention program services.
