The Role

Centrecare is offering an exciting new opportunity for a qualified and experienced Children’s Counsellors to join our Family & Relationship Services program, based in Bunbury. This is a full-time SCHADS level 5 position offered on a 12-month maximum term contract.

We are seeking counsellors who are passionate in supporting the wellbeing of children and young people. Ideal candidate will have a strong background in child counselling, family and domestic violence, and trauma-informed practice.

You will work within Centrecare’s Therapeutic Framework, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based services that promote safety, wellbeing and development for children and their families.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide trauma-informed counselling to children, young people, and families, including assessment, case planning, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Provide early intervention and family support that promotes child development, healthy attachment, protective behaviours, and life skills.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety planning for clients affected by family and domestic violence and provide outreach services as required.

Selection Criteria

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, Counselling, Childhood Development, or related field.
  • At least 3 years’ experience providing child counselling and working with families experiencing complex needs, including family and domestic violence.
  • Demonstrated experience in case management, intake, assessment, and referral.
  • Current National Police Certificate (within 12 months validity)
  • Valid WA Working with Children Card
