The Service
The Parenting Orders Program (POP) is part of a suite of services available for parents and children going through the process of separation. The aim of the program is to ensure the best interests of the child is maintained, resulting in improved child well-being and enhancing family and community functioning.
The Role
We are seeking a qualified, compassionate and skilled Counsellor to join our team located at our Kalgoorlie branch. This role will provide advice, referral, education and skills training, child focused groups and counselling, delivering seminars to parents.
A few specifics:
- Complete screening, assessments and support planning.
- Selecting and providing appropriate brief intervention supports for parents, care givers and children going through the process of separation.
- Assessing supports and ensuring that they are appropriate to meeting client's needs.
- Deliver evidence-based counselling and group interventions.
- Referring and assisting clients to access appropriate specialist services and support groups; and
- Providing information and education to support families, and carers and providing and/or arranging support tailored to meet those needs.
Selection Criteria
- Recognised tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Childhood Development/Family Studies and/or related disciplines or equivalent.
- 1-3 years relevant experience (Level 4)
- 3-5 years relevant experience. (Level 5)
- Experience in case management and coordination of client services.
- Demonstrated experience in intake, assessment and case management.
- Understanding of Family Law.
- National Police Certificate (within 12 months validity).
- WA Drivers Licence.
